JOB TITLE: Collections Management Intern
JOB LOCATION: Klamath County Museum, Klamath Falls, OR
JOB DURATION: Flexible Dates, 8-week commitment, May - September, 2019
STIPEND: $1000 for 8-week commitment
SUMMARY:
The Klamath County Museum is seeking two summer interns to commit to an eight-week internship opportunity in collections management. Interns will be provided with the opportunity to work with many aspects of collections care and storage including assisting with a collections inventory. Interns will be required to present a report on their experience at the end of the position. If interested, interns will be encouraged to prepare a historical or educational public program.
The internship provides opportunities to work with: Inventorying and cataloging incoming and backlogged collections. Performing regular inventories for exhibit and storage collections. Executing proper archival and object handling, storage, and care. Creating digital catalog entries in PastPerfect collections management software. Project report writing and presentation.
QUALIFICATIONS: Current student (graduate preferred) pursuing a Museum Studies or related degree or a recently graduated candidate with a Museum Studies or related degree. Excellent organizational and multitasking skills. Strong interpersonal and public speaking skills. The ability to work unsupervised, independently, and/or as part of a team. Computers skills, including PastPerfect database software and word processing.
