Focusing on Modoc War historic sites outside the Lava Beds

Preregistration is required for Modoc War tours offered on Nov. 29.
Two tour groups are scheduled for Nov. 29 – one at 2:00 p.m., and another at 3:00 p.m. Both tours will follow the same route.
Both groups will meet at the Merrill Museum, 301 East Second Street, in Merrill. See map.
Tour caravan will proceed to historic sites near Merrill and Malin. Tour will conclude a few miles southeast of Malin.
Most narration will be provided via FM radio. Participants may go on short walks at one or two sites.
Following the tour, participants are encouraged to attend free showing of “Modoc Nation: An Untold Story of Survival” at 6:00 p.m. at the Broadway Theater in Malin. There will be time after the tour to eat at a restaurant or visit the Malin Museum, before the film showing.
NOTE: If your plans change and you cannot attend the tour, please notify the Klamath County Museum no later than 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 26.

Modoc War tour information

Tour participants will meet at 10 a.m. at the Merrill Museum, 301 East Second Street, in Merrill. See map.
Tour caravan will proceed to historic sites near Merrill and Malin, covering about 30 miles. Tour will conclude around 3 p.m. at the town of Newell.
Most narration will be provided via FM radio. Participants may go on short walks at one or two sites.
No-host lunch in Malin, with two restaurants available.
Tour will continue after lunch, going south to Bloody Point and other points of interest. Tour covers about 30 miles, ending around 3 p.m. at the town of Newell.
NOTE: If your plans change and you cannot attend the tour, please notify the Klamath County Museum no later than noon, Dec. 9.
