Upcoming events at Klamath County Museums
Tree identification – An interpretive walk designed to help people identify trees of the Upper Klamath Basin will be offered at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, May 20, on the Link River Trail. The walk is cosponsored by the Klamath County Museum and the Klamath-Lake Forest Health Partnership. Free.
Star Party – A summer astronomy outing will be offered at 9 p.m. Saturday, July 22, at Liskey Farms on Lower Klamath Lake Road. Free.
Perseid meteor shower – A star party to watch the Perseid meteor shower will be offered on the evening of Saturday, Aug. 12, at the Fort Klamath Museum. Free.
Eclipse viewing party – A gathering to view the solar eclipse on Monday, Aug. 21, will be held at the Klamath County Museum. The sun will be 93 percent obscured as seen from Klamath Falls. Eclipse begins at 9 a.m., maximum obscuration at 10:19 a.m. Free.
"Spirit in the Rock" – Presentation and reception for a soon-to-be-released book on the Modoc War, "Spirit in the Rock – The Fierce Battle for Modoc Homelands," by the late Jim Compton at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 12. Free.
"Modoc War" – Lecture and book signing by Robert Aquinas McNally, author of soon-to-be released book, "The Modoc War – A Story of Genocide at the Dawn of America's Gilded Age," University of Nebraska Press. 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 16. Free.
